The UW-Parkside Rugby team was founded sometime in the early 1970s but folded sometime later in the decade. In 1997, led by Dr. John Murphy, the team was started up again with a single table at a recruitment fair. The team struggled with numbers and competitiveness at first but thanks to a lot of hard work, heart, and dedication, Parkside has established itself in the Wisconsin Rugby Union. During the Fall, we play our league schedule and during the Spring we play an open schedule against mens clubs and schools from other states. Currently, no players on the Parkside Rugby Club receive any scholarships but there are plans in the future to offer academic scholarships should the resources become available. Players are responsible for their own rugby shorts, and socks, as well as cleats and mouthguards. All players must also be CIPP'd and have signed a Code of Conduct form before stepping foot on the rugby field. The Parkside Rugby Club is always looking for sponsorship, as well as meaningful volunteer work within the Racine/Kenosha community.
